Parents as Reading Partners
Dive into Reading!
February 22 - March 19
Information and Directions:
Please have your children circle or color one picture in the corresponding week for each day that you read with them.
When the week is completed please tear/cut off that corresponding week and return it to school.
Please note that the first week's log sheet is on the bottom of the page and continues working upward.
Please make sure your child signs the sheet and includes their teacher's name. Parents, please initial as well.
Only children that participate in PARP will receive the incentive prizes each week.
If the child was absent on the day the log sheets are due they are still eligible for an incentive. Return them when the child returns to class.
All slips are to be handed in even if they are late. The children that are late returning their slips will receive their incentive as they are tallied by the PTA.
Reading will begin on Monday, February 22 and continue until Friday, March 19.
Weekly Principal's PARP challenge (New for 2010):
Week 1 (Feb 22): Read a magazine or newspaper - students spend some time reading a section of the newspaper or a favorite magazine.
Week 2 (March 1): Read a T-Shirt - students and staff wear a shirt with words on them.
Week 3 (March 8): Family recommendation night - as a family member or friend to recommend a book.
Week 4 (March 15): Reading scavenger hunt - students have fun finding and reading ordinary items in the home. A list will be provided to each student. The class that returns the most scavenger hunt forms wins extra recess.
